Karolina Morinaga is a Warsaw-born painter and illustrator based in Tokyo. Her work draws inspiration from everyday life, particularly nature and urban architecture.

When she is not painting or drawing, she enjoys watching her tropical fish, practicing qi gong, and photographing Tokyo’s bridges.

She is the author and illustrator of three picture books, including Yummy Yummy Month by Month: Fruits & Vegetables in Season in Japan. She has also retold and illustrated the Japanese folktales The Crab and the Monkey and The Jizo and Bamboo Hats.

She holds a Ph.D. in Japanese literature from the University of Warsaw and is the author of Mysterious Depth: Yugen in Japanese Poetry.
